My answer to this question isn’t going to comfort people, but I think our experiences are the most important part of what makes us unique, and for the most part, those experiences are random. We don’t choose the time and place of our birth, our families, our school systems, the religions we are raised within, or much of anything in our formative years.
I didn’t choose a metabolism that makes it easy for me to put on weight, be it muscle or fat. I didn’t choose parents who instilled in me a love of reading. I didn’t choose for my father to take me to see “Star Trek” as a kid.
But it doesn’t make people any less interesting.
